Chia seeds – these super tiny babies, if you have not already heard of them my dear friends, am all over here with my delicious stories of how I have been sprinkling these tiny gems madly into my porridge bowls, smoothies, salads(cheating, I have not eaten any salads in the last one week atleast) and mainly in snacks and ofcourse all things desserts!!! You either leave this page and never look back here or tell me that you are buying a little pack of these chia seeds tomorrow, Deal? kidding, but please please tell me that you will look back ,I mean look at these cute little faces, I pinky promise that these are not bland not sour not bitter not taste-less , they absolutely leave no bad taste on your tongue but are only loaded with full fibre(good for weight loss) and high in xyz acids that we will get know in a while, but by all means am not forcing you to include these into your every meal guys,not at all. My one and only goal today is to make you aware of the benefits of these tiny seeds so you can make your own decisions of food choices ,yes, you and on your own.
Chia seeds look tiny but you will be seriously amazed to know how huge the benefits these offer! First thing, lets talk little about what we need to lose weight in simple terms, the amount of calories we consume should be less than the amount of calories we burn,
but I cannot simply drink fruit juices all day or munch on raw vegetables alone for a week continuously to let my body know that am consuming lesser calories, It will only make my situation worse than ever because my body needs rice(my most fav carbs) chickpeas(proteins) and my most favourite olive oil and of course sometimes I do crave for butter(fats). I can’t live whole life on munching carrots so I will try to include a range of wholesome healthy foods in my diet that keeps my daily calorie levels to a desired threshold as well as provide enough energy for me to live a LIFE, So it is essential I eat a balanced meal made up of healthy and low carbs, proteins and fats along with good amount of fibre to melt my fat.
For example, I will choose to sprinkle these little chia seeds in my porridge rather than a table spoon of a brown or white or any kind of notorious sugar crystals or if you may fancily call cinnamon sugar .Yes I do live on food but not at the cost of forgetting my fitness and health goals and I love discovering new fooooooooood groups,these changes appear small but if you continue doing these little changes for a month say, you would definitely see a positive change..the 1% infinity concept it is..I liked this concept(heard from one of a blog podcasts)because when you keep doing little things for a long time they give you huge benefits at the end without even you knowing that you did something.
Now How Chia seeds help you in weight loss?
Taking 5 tablespoons of chia seeds a day won’t melt any amounts of your body fat magically, instead we better know what chia seeds contain in themselves that can aid in weight loss,
Chia seeds are high in protein
Good weight loss = low carbs + more protein + healthy fats + exercise
, So our aim is to include foods with high protein with lesser calories wherever possible through the day!Chia seeds contain more protein than any other plant based seeds , for example 14 percent of chia seeds by weight seems protein.(oh wow that’s a good amount!!)
Chia seeds make you(me) feel full
Normally when I add 1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds in my morning green smoothie I feel full and longer without getting more calories (plus the good protein). I have read that these seeds do expand in our bellies which will cause this feeling which I don’t really bother. I feel full with less calories and more protein, WIN!
Chia seeds contain more soluble fibre(that can melt fat)
What, fibre? Yes, soluble fibre is a component that is quite essential to melt fat from our body. It will fill our tummies fast up and prevent us from feeling hungry and eating a lot (I want more of this happen to me please)Chia seeds contain high amounts of soluble fibre which is what is needed for weight loss.

Chia seeds are not magical pills for weight loss, It is their nutritional value that helps in weight loss, so next time someone ask you to take a spoon ful of chia seeds daily, you know why it is for,Also soluble fibre in it will make you feel full for longer and prevent you from eating a lot of food or taking in a lot of calories which inturn helps to lose weight faster when coupled with right amount of varied physical activities.the high protein content in it will build you lean muscle that helps fight against your body fat which is again = fat loss = healthy you
Any food that that can supply me with enough energy with fewer calories is a major boon, so why to neglect these tiny babies?

- Sprinkle on porridge(no, not those sugar loaded cereals)
- Mix with fruit smoothies.
- Add to any healthy bakes like cookies, cakes and crackers, muffins, options are just endless guys!!
- Drink a glass of water with soaked in chia seeds(soak for just few minutes)
- Add to salads and sauces.(yes we weight loss buddies should not have traditional cooking rules, so yes in sauces too)
- Desserts, puddings or simply mix with a pot of greek yogurt and have it as a after dinner sncak(Ask me ideas!)
Little heads up for you- am plannig to make a batch of sweet potato crackers soon, and half of the ingredients would be chia seeds!!
I will add up recipes here as and when I make using chia seeds so to give you an idea, but tell me please that you will consider these to include in your meals from tomorrow? Ok after you next weekend grocery shopping?
