Al-right congrats on deciding to lose weight, it’s the best decision of your life. Now that you have decided let’s talk this way. Before even setting up a weight loss goal..Why to lose weight?
Ask this one question to yourself..why do I want to lose weight? Possible answers could be(shamelessly from my own experiences)
- I want look slim for my upcoming wedding
- I want to impress my boy/girl friend/husband
- I need to get fit for the coming 10k run or to wear those body hugging tees for the coming Spring
- I want to be healthy, fit and look good to myself
The above reasons from #1 to #3 always gave me a temporary fix and once those timelines were passed by I will either make another goal or forget the whole concept of weight loss for life, this is something that made me work hard for stopped motivating me after few months. Please remember while losing every pound is a victory ,gaining it all at once back is a failure for infinite times, we need those little victories to keep our spirits up!
The one I liked and lead me on a more motivating path is #4 which emphasises on being healthy and fit for the rest of my life or at least if I talk about tiny improvements, it helped me to choose a more selective approach of how to choose appropriate foods if was not working out that week, Being fit and looking good to myself is the most powerful reasons to start my weight loss journey, this thought constantly motivates me and keep me on track which means that my decisions and changes are little stable and encourages me further. Often times, weight loss becomes a happy side effect of this kind of healthy life style!
The more I think about looking good to myself the more I eat home cooked meals and search healthier options while eating out,
The more I eat healthy the more I get motivated to hit the gym daily to compliment my efforts on healthy eating.
While I don’t underrate the reasons #1 to #3, the idea here is to tell you how important it is to stick to a goal that will change your life forever rather than those of stopping your efforts in the middle .Look at yourself in the mirror and imagine yourself wearing those skinny jeggins and body fit shirts that you always avoided trying on them. One image of a better YOU = loads of inspiration to stick to your goal for a longer time.
Once you have decided what kind of goal it is(I wish it is #4), make a firm plan on your weight loss goal, losing 1 pound per week is a realistic goal and make sure you stick to it, it could not mean that you completely cut down your daily meals into half the next day, lets take time and make that one simple change at a time, One single step at a time, one simply change at a time..and let’s unfold the secret power of these infinite one-step changes!
Tell me more about your answers below 🙂
