A simple breakfast green smoothie bursting with the sweet and tangy flavours of mango and blueberries along with a little protein kick from the chia seeds and ofcourse spinach for the greeny goodness
I can’t thank enough to the people who brought this idea of green smoothies into my life, Let God give all what they want in their lives, and you please wish the same for me if am the one who gave you this first recipe for a green smoothie, Rest please give me a virtual hi-fi as we are on the same boat sipping these cute jars of colorful green smoothies for all things breakfast , lunch and dinner, Can’t get enough of these friends, can’t get enough, I wonder how many colors life has given us and we simply care those white or brown breads for breakfast all the time, I mean if fruit is boring thing to eat let’s start blending them, if greens are your absolute hatred things, lets blend them, those who love sugar please get a life and try these simple (refined)sugar-less goodness jars for once, please, pretty please?
When we are aiming to lose weight we don’t need to go either sugar free or carb free diets, for that matter I hate the word diets and that’ another story. I mean you don’t need to even avoid the natural bounties like fresh fruits in the name of sugar free diets etc, Fruits contain lots of fibre and essential nutrients that keep you fill when you are dearly missing your fatty fast foods from the countless drive thru meals.Hold on please am not telling you to go on fruit diet for the whole day, but the idea is to fill up you tummy with more vegetables and fruits at the cost of less calories and fats. If you are not a big fan of munching apples or carrots at your workplace you could calmly and smoothly sip these smoothies and they make a good take away meal of course.
Filling breakfast with green smoothies = les calories + less fat +more nutrients+ more fibre = steady weight loss
The options you see with green smoothie are endless here as you can sip these green smoothies for the whole day as in breakfast(by including the appropriate (proteins and fats) or snack or as a low calorie dinner if your body can cope up, but there is no hard rule setup to consume only smoothies if you need to lose weight, all you need is to stay in your calorie limits and do proper exercises, But staying in the calorie limits is all we need to excel and choose appropriate foods ,
Now how smoothies or green smoothies help you lose weight?
Green Smoothies are punch packed with essential nutrients and fibres and harmless sugars(mostly) when you make them at home which means you get most out of one single glass without additional or empty calories..I need more of these foods please
Less or almost zero in saturated/trans fats or simply unhealthy fats unlike hash browns or any other fried breakfast which ruins your weight loss efforts
They make a complete meal for breakfast with some added proteins and healthy fats with less calories which means that you control what goes in your plate which is required for weight loss.
Keeps tummy full again with less calories which is a great boon for weight loss, I replaced my porridge breakfast with smoothies 3 times a week and started feeling very lighter than before, but the idea is not to get starved , smoothies is not = starvings . Please read it again. I try to take a jar full of smootie along with one boiled egg which is more than sufficient for me, les carbs less fats and more satisfaction 🙂
Can include any kind of fruits or greens or any vegetables of your choice which makes it easier to have a variety in the meal and increase the consumption of different vitamins, minerals and water as well
Not the least that they take only 10-15 minutes for prep and make a great take away meal so eliminating any chance of eating high fat brekfats at your work place or so! Planning and making our meals at home eliminates many calories
While it is a wise idea to include smoothies in your breakfast I didn’t find it that promising to replace my lunch or dinner with smoothies, I always try to take a balanced meal through out my day to include varieties of dishes into my plate so smoothies will be sipped only as part of either breakfast or snack, this would I think call for a separate blog post to explain how to include smoothies in your weight loss meal but for now I’ll talk about all things mangoes and blueberries which are the hero’s of our today’s smoothie:)
I have picked up one high calorie and few low sweet calorie category fruit for this smoothie so as to balance the overall nutritional value. Ofcourse the spinach in this is a great and silent supplier of essential nutrients and you would hardly notice its taste.Also addition of coconut oil here gives that creamy texture and essential fats to your breakfast meal,Since I get to eat one boiled egg alng with this smotthie I didn’t add protein powder and you are free to add if you wish, that’s the beauty of smoothies as they don’t require any accurate measures or recipes, blend whatever you can and make sure the overall result isn’t too high in calories 🙂
Here you go , the recipe for creamy and delicious Mango Blueberry Breakfast green smoothie!Each serving contains less than or equal to 300 calories which is full of goodness and nothing else!
- 1 cup tightly packed spinach
- ¾ cup frozen or fresh mango chunks
- ½ cup frozen or fresh blueberries
- ¼ cup frozen cherries pitted
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut water
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- ¾ tablespoon coconut oil
- Wash all ingredient thoroughly before use except the frozen fruit of course.
- Blend the spinach along with coconut water into smooth without having any leaves or nibs.
- Add the rest of the fruits, coconut oil and chia seeds and blend again into smooth by adjusting the water to your desired consistency.
- I like to have my smoothie little creamier so I added ½ cup of water
Also addition of at least one frozen fruit makes the smoothie cool and also makes your job easier when you don't have time to prepare your meals
Adjust the water accordingly to your desired consistency and no need to be accuarate
